What does it mean to have a “migration background”, and does the term mean the same thing in every country? The course examines language repertoires, identity markers and competing ideas of culture in debates about migration and conflict.
Course details
The course explores how concepts such as culture, identity, language and belonging are used in educational and public debate. It invites students to examine familiar categories critically and to consider how they change across national and institutional contexts.
