Researching gender, migration and inequalities in knowledge production
I am a researcher interested in how gender shapes academic institutions, careers and knowledge production. My current research examines these questions in the context of German-language Islamwissenschaft (Islamic Studies), exploring both patterns of participation and the ways in which knowledge is produced, valued and legitimised within the field. My work combines qualitative and quantitative approaches and engages with gender and women’s history, decolonial feminist thought, Muslim communities in Europe and South Asia, and questions of migration, racism and inequality.
Across these different fields, I am drawn to questions of power, participation and belonging — and to the assumptions, institutions and conventions through which they are organised and maintained.
